First FA Sunday Cup game played midweek?

History could well have been made at Formby tonight, where Mariners of the Ormskirk & District league beat Alder (the last surviving entrants from the Liverpool Business Houses league) 4-0, in what could have been the first Sunday Cup game to have been played midweek.

I've watched games in the Sunday Cup since 1984 and I've never heard of any game being played midweek before. There were plans to do this last season, when Unity Nirankari and Club Lewsey were due to meet at Hitchin Town on Thursday 3rd December but like most games at that time, it fell foul of the weather.

Mariners will face the winners of Lobster and Salisbury Athletic, who play their outstanding 3rd round tie this coming Sunday at Bootle.

Many thanks to Ian Porter for letting me know this result
